Build the campaign's popup

The box a visitor sees on your website, and the four things it can ask them to do.

A campaign can speak on your website as well as by email. The popup is that voice: it shows while the campaign is live, and it either announces something, points at a page, collects a name and address, or spotlights one product or event.

  1. Open the campaign, then the ☰, and choose Add Popup - or Edit Popup once it has one.

A campaign has one popup. There is no separate Popups screen.

  2. Under CONTENT, give it a title and write the words.

The title is internal - it names the popup for you and visitors never see it. "Start from a template" fills the content from a popup you saved before, and the tick at the bottom of the section saves this one as a reusable template in turn.

  3. Under BEHAVIOR, set the width, the minimum height and the background.

Sizes are in pixels. "Popup is live during the window" is the switch that lets it show at all - the campaign must also be live, and the popup only appears inside the campaign's own dates.

  4. To put one product or event in it, choose it under SPOTLIGHT A PRODUCT OR EVENT.

Pick Product or Event, then the item. Its picture, name and price are drawn from the record, so they stay right when you change the product.

  5. Under CALL TO ACTION, choose what the button does.

Announcement only - one button that closes it. Collect info - fields and a Submit button in the popup itself. Or a click-through to a page you name. A spotlight supplies its own destination, so no URL is asked for.

  6. For Collect info, tick the fields and say where submissions land.

Email is always collected and cannot be turned off; first name, last name and phone are yours to add. Then choose between the Newsletter list - which subscribes them, shows in the Subscribers report and credits this campaign - and Form Submissions, which lands in Contacts › Form Submissions with a Create Contact action. That choice decides whether somebody is subscribed, so it is the one to get right.

  7. Write the button text, and the dismiss text if you want something other than "No Thanks".

  8. Press Launch Popup to see it full-screen, exactly as a visitor does.

It draws with whatever is on the form, saved or not, using the same renderer the website uses - so what you are looking at is the real thing rather than a mock-up.

  9. Press Save.

Watch out

The popup shows only while the campaign is LIVE and inside its dates, with its own switch on. If a visitor is not seeing it, check the campaign's status before anything on this screen.

Watch out

Ending the campaign stops the popup, the discount and the coupon together. Deleting the campaign deletes the popup with it.

Tip

Only one live campaign at a time may point at the same product or event, so two popups cannot spotlight the same thing at once.
