Waiving a line, and what we have given

How to give a ministry the platform, and where the donated figure reads.

Waiving is giving. A waived line is still printed on the invoice at what it would have cost and added up as donated instead of charged — which is the whole reason the model changed. A gift used to be a price of zero, and a price of zero recorded nothing at all: the one thing a grant never produced was a record of what had been granted.

  1. Open Invoices on the ministry’s screen and find the Waived rows.

One switch per line, each named, with a sentence saying what it covers.

  2. Switch on whatever this ministry is not being charged for, and Save terms.

Giving away the platform itself is the plan line. Passing none of the running costs on is Google Cloud and the rest.

  3. Read what it has come to on the Invoicing page.

Charged and Waived side by side above the months — across every month that has been invoiced.

  4. Read one ministry’s own gift on its Cost unit.

What the month on show was given, off that month’s frozen invoice.

Tip

The margin is never taken on a waived cost. Charging a percentage of something given away would quietly turn a gift into a bill.

Watch out

Only INVOICED months count towards what has been given. A month nobody has invoiced has not been given away — it has not been decided — and counting it would move the figure every time the nightly rollup ran.

Watch out

Saving terms writes EVERY line’s switch, not only the ones turned on. An absent answer means charged, so a half-written map would quietly put a line you had waived back on the bill.
